Retail Therapy

trap, it should be, life is unpredictable, get out of the shops and spend it with people you love, you can't take those shoes with you when you are no longer here.
From the time we are born, we are taught about materialism and that more is better. Some clever person even came up with the phrase..RETAIL THERAPY. They tell us we need to shop to fill the void of loneliness, sadness, overweight, low self esteem, relationship problems and even when you've had a bad day. Now, there are phrases out there telling us that shopping is cheaper than therapy, until you get that credit card bill, then you might wish you went to therapy instead. The world has conditioned us to want more. The latest fashions that only last a few months, and then they tell us to go and shop yet again because what we wore last month is out of style. Women have been convinced that they are inadequate unless they have over twenty pairs of shoes.
Our society has entirely lost itself. We shop as a hobby, we consume at an accelerated pace without a second though of what it is doing to the environment. Do we even consider the repercussions that our shopping habits have on the earth that we are suppose to look after, so our children can have a home? We don't think about all the trash that we put back into the environment, we shop aimlessly, and when these items no longer serve us....we discard of them without thinking what it will do to the environment. We need to wake up and see what we have done to mother earth...even if we don't care much for that, think about this. You buy items with hours taken from your life, not money, you exchange your life with items that you will throw into the trash very soon. wouldn't you rather spend that time with your loved ones? or teaching the next generation to not be materialistic?
